DAY 2 of the drive from Ontario. We stayed at the lovely Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa. Our salt-covered minivan looked out of place amongst the clean, new, un-minivan vehicles that loaded the lot. Just one night and then we moved on. This was a bit of a splurge for us, made possible by Uncle Doug and Aunt Judi upgrading our room with their Westin points (thank you, Uncle Doug and Aunt Judi!) 

It was overcast and cold but, at my request, we spent 20 minutes driving through Savannah, Georgia (River St. and a few back streets). Savannah has an old cared-for feeling. It is cozy with cobblestone streets and mossy trees. The shops are clad in weathered brick and patched lath. Cafés and eateries squeeze between shops selling “old-time candy,” seafood, and trinkets. Savannah is a trip for some other time. Before we left for Reunion Resort (our final destination) I got some drive-by snaps:
